Michelle Knight has graced many stages throughout her impressive career… but that means that she’s also had to put one show behind her as she prepares for the next to come her way. In this 2nd episode of our CONFIDENCE series, Michelle discusses the process of grieving for a project that you’ve lost while getting back on your horse for the next project.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:
- Michelle Knight (Jersey Boys, Finding Nemo: The Musical, multiple national tours) auditioned for and was cast in a new original musical called DisEnchanted, being workshopped and performed at the Orlando International Fringe Festival.
- After years of workshopping, DisEnchanted made its way to NYC for an Off-Broadway run, starring Michelle. But after some reflection similar to what John Wayne Shafer mentioned in his interview, it became apparent that she needed to focus on her personal goals for a while and she approached the producers to give 6 weeks notice and announce her final show… A week before the show, itself, announced it was closing its doors and ending their successful run.
- On the decision to leave and preparing yourself, she says there is no golden rule… Allow yourself to feel what you’re feeling and stay open to what will happen next. Trust that you have created enough of a skillset for yourself that you will be gainfully employed as a performer. But even then, there is no guarantee of employment… You always have to be prepared.
- In order to maximize her confidence (something that does not come naturally to her, by the way) in a high-stakes situation, her main tools are to: Know your stuff cold… don’t leave any question marks. And Fake it til you Make it… she talks about faking confidence in an audition, a room of new people, or during an evening of bad stage fright. Show that you feel confident and your body will accept it.
