This was a bit of a departure for SOS, as it was 3 white boys playing a “these hips don’t lie” Latin Jazz Fusion piece. Cory started with guitar and threw in some rhythmic syncopations that Colin quickly jumped on and …voila… it sounds like we played it live.
The art of the instrumental is getting more and more undersold these days, unless it’s set to the tune of a techno beat. Any top 40 song right now has to have lyrics (and usually poorly written lyrics, at that). This is a nice throwback to the nightclubs in the 70’s when people would congregate and share in the musical experience.
