The Start of Fall | Music and Lyrics by Jordan

Florida is kind of the worst place to wait for that summer-to-fall transition to take place because you probably won’t feel it until maybe January and then a month later summer starts again.

This is written slightly tongue-in-cheek because I’m in Florida but also because it’s based on memories of what I have experienced from the excitement I feel on those first days of brisk weather.  It’s the moment when your body realizes before your brain that the holidays are coming and are bringing with them family, good food, beautiful picture opportunites, and spiced pumpkin lattes.

It’s the start of fall
I can see the leaves turn green to red to brown
It’s the start of fall
I can feel the frosted grass crunch on the ground

It’s the start of fall
Light sweaters, heavy petters
The geese fly as they call
It’s the start of fall

It’s simply autumn
The dark grey clouds crowd out the sky so blue
And it’s simply awesome
As the days get short to spend my nights with you

It’s the start of fall
Pumpkin lattes, goodbye hot days
No more short shorts but if you got’em, flaunt’em
It’s simply autumn

Bears in their caves
Oranges ripen on their branches fat with juice
Snow birds packing
Children laughing as their dad gets sniffed by moose

Snowflakes falling
Song birds calling out their last hoorah til spring
Families gather
It’s the time of year for granting anything

It’s the start of fall
Trick or Treating, carol singing
A festive mood for all
It’s the start of fall
