Redeye at Three | Music by Jordan | Lyrics by Jim

This was a fun undertaking in that we had so many collaborators jump in, including some brand new faces!  We were looking for a soulful backing vocal to fill in all the gaps and Melissa came out of the woodwork to save the day!  We’re hoping she’ll be collaborate with us full time… sometimes a bunch of white boys reach a limit on how much soul they can muster.

Adam is also a new collaborator and pitched in and laid down some tasty twangy licks.  You’d never know he’s not a Nashville boy.

My Dad (another 1st time collaborator) actually wrote these lyrics a while ago and they were sitting in the SOS vaults until I was on an overnight shoot for a new short horror film and they popped into my head.  I instantly pulled the lyrics up on my phone, turned on my metronome, and had the song written in about 10 minutes.  I got home around 7 am and slept for a couple of hours before I grabbed my guitar and made sure what I’d worked out in my head actually worked for my ears.  (Living the life of a true rock star, eh?)  Had the scratch laid down an hour later and got an overwhelming response of people jumping onboard.

I’m loving this!

PS- Here’s a selfie from the film shoot.

Ain’t nobody I can talk with anymore.
You got your truths
You got your lies
But you won’t know which is which
Until you realize

Everybody’s spinnin’
Some more than others
Everybody’s grinnin’
Prob’ly not their mothers.

Got a little girl comin’
Prob’ly not the last
Some day in the future
She will surely ask
Can I have some ice cream?
Can I go to college?
How far to our vacation?
Can I have some knowledge?
No, someday and shhh
But as to the last
Here’s a little relic
That I bring from the past

Everybody’s spinnin’
Some more than others
Everybody’s grinnin’
Prob’ly not their mothers.

If you want to make things better
If you wanna add some value
Listen to the “other” guy
And don’t be surprised if you
Hear some other stories
That your guy didn’t mention
May be true, may be false
But an ounce of prevention.

We get our truth from liars but
Not with blinders on.
Decide what’s true from all that’s said.
Not just what one has spun.
Some spin by omission
Of stories others tell.
To them it ain’t important
To others well…….

Everybody’s spinnin’
Some more than others
Everybody’s grinnin’
Prob’ly not their mothers.
