Our Summer Session is Almost Upon Us! | SOSstudio

The first track of our Summer Session 2015 is released on Sunday June 14th

We are excited.  Very Excited.  We have been looking forward to beginning our next Songs on Sunday session ever since the last session ended and now the time to begin is almost upon us.  However, we have not been idle since we released our last track.  We have been searching for new songwriters, collaborators, and producers to help make this the most successful session yet.

So what can you expect?  Well, you can be assured that you will be getting the same, top notch standard of writing and producing on tracks that have been made by talented people all over the world.  After talking to many of our upcoming writers it is clear that they have some great ideas for a very diverse range of musical styles.

This year, however, we are trying something new in the way we release the tracks.  You will still be able to listen to the tracks online for free, however, when our first track is released on June 14th it will be available as part of a short podcast. In addition to the track itself, you will hear the writer talk about the song, what it took to write it and what went into recording it in such a unique, collaborative way.  If you then want to listen to the song on it’s own, it will be yours to own via iTunes, Amazon, Google Play or Shazam.

We spent a long time coming to that decision but all agree that it is the best option in many ways.  First, it gives you the chance to own the song outright, for you to be able to keep it on your music player and take it with you where ever you are, even when you are not online.  Most importantly it gives you the opportunity to choose to support the artists that created it by spending less than the cost of an espresso or candy bar.

If we had the choice, we would make it all free all the time but we believe in a sustainable industry where people are rewarded for their hard work.  The artists involved in the project are not doing it to become rich or even to make money but there are a lot expenses involved in creating art and a very small cost to the listener can make a huge difference to the artist.

Thanks so much for checking in and we hope you enjoy what is about to happen!
